Principal DevOps Engineer. FTE/C2H. Madison, WI. (L-3092) (C)

Are you a DevOps Engineer looking for a long-term, principal role?  Interested in the Madison, WI market?  Then this permanent position might be of interest to you.

In short, our end client is looking to build out their DevOps team and processes.  This is really a green field for the client (not much there around DevOps tools/processes).  As such they are looking to fill this position via a direct hire or a contract-to-hire resource.  Role would involve the resource leading all aspects of the full DevOps toolchain not to mention the supporting organziational aspects (three ways, lean, kaizen, post-mortems, etc.).    The right candidate could start immediately once background check completes.

So if this sounds like you, APPLY TODAY!!!

** Note, slightly more in depth interview process than usual given the degree of leadership this role will have.  Starts with a 30-minute tech screen via webex.  If that goes well a 90 minute technical and work history (from resume) interview. If that goes well there is final coding excercise with the tech lead (peer programming excercise).  **

05/31/18 11:24 AM . Tim Bauer. Looks like candidate will start 6/4 (paperwork done). Closing out.

05/18/18 00:01 AM . Tim Bauer. Move to hold per hiring manager (he just made an offer to another candidate in c2h so wants to reassess needs).

05/10/18 13:42 PM . Tim Bauer. Still going here. Hiring manager is screening a candidate today.

04/26/18 16:51 PM . Tim Bauer. Hiring manager confirms this is still open (no notable players in pipe). Keep searching.

04/09/18 13:02 PM . Tim Bauer. Client tables our submission doesn't have enough depth in lead / arch roles around CI/CD pipelines. Did clarify that the CIDR question from them is more about someone that is comfortable (understands basics of) with networking concepts and security at enterprise level as that is one aspect the role encounters (working w/ those teams at arch level).

04/05/18 11:44 AM . Tim Bauer. Submitted a second candidate on GC EAD that hiring manager said 'might' work. Continue sourcing.

03/30/18 17:20 PM . Tim Bauer. Client tables. Candidate didn't provide solid context to answers in 2nd interview (and/or out of context / contradictory detail). .

03/21/18 15:55 PM . Tim Bauer. Hiring manager is talking to one of our candidates this week. Continue to search.

03/08/18 14:57 PM . Tim Bauer. Hiring manager confirms still looking (pipeline wide open)

03/08/18 14:56 PM . Tim Bauer. Client HR team clarifies they are nervous about bringing on candidates that come from companies that originally sponsored them on h1. Seems their experience has been much lower retention for resources of that type (dont convert from contract to hire on offer; instead move on to another contract with original sponsor). Given that, will probably need to table candidates of that type.

03/08/18 13:50 PM . Tim Bauer. Pinged client buyer for status.

02/22/18 18:24 PM . Tim Bauer. Shared submission, informally, to hiring manager to get thoughts on paper on 2/21.

02/22/18 14:14 PM . Tim Bauer. We continue to source here. Keys remain the same.

02/19/18 19:18 PM . Tim Bauer. Client tables our submission after phone screen. LIkes the tech skills on paper but candidate didn't have enought example depth around lead/mentoring/arch roles in prior clients.

02/14/18 19:18 PM . Tim Bauer. Hiring manager is goign to phone screen one of our submissions. Basic profile is 20+ years with 10+ in DevOps specifically. Large scale (global footprint) shops. We'll keep sourcing but this profile seems to be in the ballpark (will use as a test for future options).

02/09/18 17:24 PM . Tim Bauer. Hiring manager confirms they are still looking here (pipeline is dry). Filters remain the same (lead level, etc.)

02/01/18 18:34 PM . Tim Bauer. Candidates need to be open to either (a) contract-to-hire and/or (b) direct hire.

02/01/18 14:22 PM . Tim Bauer. Still looking here. Updated client today that we aren't seeing many candidates open to FTE or C2H that fit their minimum requirement level.
